Heating Radiators in Tbilisi: How to Choose and What They Cost

Updated 4 min read

When an apartment or a house needs heating, the question is almost always the same: what do radiators cost in Tbilisi, and how many do I need. Below is how the price works, how the types differ, how to estimate the number of sections, and what to check before you buy.

How a radiator is priced

The thing that trips up most comparisons: a radiator is sold by the section, not as a finished unit. One section is a vertical element 45 mm wide. You add as many as the heat output calls for, so the "radiator" for a small bedroom and the one for a living room with floor-to-ceiling glazing are the same product in different quantities.

Two things follow. First, the honest comparison is price per section, not price per unit. Second, the total depends on height: a taller section puts out more heat and costs more, but you need fewer of them.

Prices for Novaterm steel tubular radiators as of September 2026:

Height2 tubes (70 mm deep)3 tubes (100 mm deep)
300 mm76 GEL · 45 W82 GEL · 55 W
500 mm82 GEL · 68 W88 GEL · 86 W
1500 mm123 GEL · 162 W135 GEL · 226 W
1800 mm135 GEL · 197 W152 GEL · 267 W
2000 mm158 GEL · 215 W170 GEL · 295 W

Output is given per section at dT 70, the standard EN 442 test condition (water 95/85 °C, air 20 °C). If your system runs cooler, real output will be lower, and that is normal: every model page shows both figures, at dT 70 and at dT 50.

The types of radiator

Aluminum. The cheapest and the most powerful per section. Fussy about water quality: in a system with aggressive water or mixed metals, service life drops.

Bimetal. A steel core in an aluminum body. Handles high pressure and water hammer, which is why it is common in older buildings with central heating.

Steel tubular (column). Even heat, a small water volume, so it comes up to temperature quickly. Clean geometry, which means the radiator can stay in plain view. Well suited to the standalone heating systems found in houses and newer apartments. This is the type we supply.

Cast iron. High inertia: slow to warm, slow to cool. Heavy, and it needs solid mounting hardware. Today it is mostly chosen for the look.

In-floor convectors. Not a radiator strictly speaking, but it solves the same problem. The unit is recessed into the floor along the window under a grille flush with the floor, and it is the only option where the glazing runs to the floor and there is nowhere to hang a radiator. There is more on this in our guide on the in-floor convector vs radiator question.

Estimating the number of sections

The steps are straightforward:

  1. Work out the output the room needs. It depends on floor area, ceiling height, glazed area, the number of outside walls, and insulation, which is why there's no one-size-fits-all watts-per-square-meter number.
  2. Divide it by the output of one section from the table above.
  3. Check that the result fits the wall: radiator width is the number of sections times 45 mm, plus the end fittings.

An example. A room needs 1.5 kW. Take a 1500 mm section in three tubes, at 226 W. 1500 / 226 is about 7 sections, roughly 315 mm wide. That gives a tall, narrow radiator, which is useful when the only free wall is the pier between two windows. The same output in 500 mm two-tube sections, at 68 W each, would take 22 sections and nearly a meter of wall.

What to check besides the price

  • Center distance. The spacing between the pipe connections. On a 500 mm two-tube section it is 440 mm; on the three-tube version, 430 mm. If you are replacing an old radiator, the connections are already fixed in place and the new unit has to match them.
  • Depth. 70 mm for two tubes, 100 mm for three. Three tubes give more output at the same height but stick out further from the wall.
  • Water volume. Tubular radiators hold very little, from 0.4 liters per section. Less water means a faster response to the thermostat.
  • Color. White RAL 9016 and black RAL 9005 as standard, other RAL colors to order.
  • Warranty and availability. Novaterm units carry a 5-year warranty, with delivery across Georgia.

In short

A radiator is priced per section, and the number of sections follows from the output the room needs. Novaterm sections run from 76 to 170 GEL depending on height and the number of tubes. A taller section costs more, but you need fewer of them and they take up less wall space. If the windows run to the floor, look at an in-floor convector instead.

Frequently asked questions

What do heating radiators cost in Tbilisi?
The price is quoted per section, not per finished radiator: you add as many sections as the heat output calls for. As of September 2026, Novaterm steel tubular radiators run from 76 GEL for a 300 mm section to 170 GEL for a 2000 mm one. A 15 sq m room usually needs 7 to 9 sections at 500 mm. We will calculate the exact figure for your space free of charge.
Which radiators are better: aluminum, bimetal, or steel?
Aluminum gives the most output per section and costs the least, but it is sensitive to water quality. Bimetal handles high pressure and is built for the central heating of older buildings. Steel tubular radiators work comfortably in the standalone heating systems found in houses and newer apartments, heat evenly, and look tidy, which is why they get chosen when the radiator stays in view. There is no universally best type: it depends on the system you have.
How many sections does a room need?
Sections equal the required output divided by the output of one section. That output depends on radiator height and water temperature: a 500 mm two-tube section gives 68 W at dT 70, while a 1500 mm one gives 162 W. The required output is worked out from floor area, ceiling height, glazing, and how many walls face outside, so the accurate way is to show us the plan.
Do you deliver across Georgia, and is there a warranty?
Yes. Delivery across all of Georgia, and a 5-year warranty on Novaterm units. Consultation and quotes are free.
